Choosing a good formula and other products that help it last all day, such as primer and concealer, will make it easy to keep eyeliner in place all day. By using products that are built to extend wear, you can avoid smudging and running throughout the day.

In this blog, we will guide you through making your eyeliner waterproof. So let’s start.

Choose a waterproof formula

The most important aspect of making your eyeliner waterproof is to use a water-resistant formula. There are so many products available in the market that are waterproof, but not all of them work equally. So you have to choose eyeliner the best for you to get the best and long results.

Consider your skin type for eyeliner

To get the best makeup for you, you should know your skin type. For the best makeup results, you should choose the products according to your skin type. If you have oily skin, then avoid using softer-formulated eyeliners. An alternative option is a liquid or felt-tip option.

Prepare your skin

If you prepare your skin for a long time, then it will make makeup last longer. To prepare your eyes, what you should do? You should clean, tone, and moisturize your eyelids to remove oil from your skin. Get the best moisturizer that will hydrate your skin without making it slippery. If your skin is oily, then lightly dab excess oil with a tissue. And if you have more oily skin, you can leave the moisturizer out and only use the primer. Allow your skin to dry before applying the next product.

Use a makeup primer

Before applying any eye shade or liner, apply primer to your eyes. It will not only be good for eyeliner but also create a smooth base. A primer has numerous advantages, including the ability to conceal pores and extend the life of your makeup.

Use concealer on the under-eye

Concealer is mostly used to hide dark patches and dark coloration. Get a good concealer and apply it in a patting motion on your under-eye. May you be confused about the link between eyeliner and concealer? Concealer is good to prevent the running of eyeliner. One of the important things is that it acts as a barrier between the skin and the eyeliner. As a result, it will help the liner last longer and stay fresh.

Curl your lashes first

Before applying the eyeliner, curl your eyelashes first. It is very disturbing when you apply eyeliner first, and curling will disturb your eyeliner.

How can you make eyeliner at home?

You can try the given ingredients to make eyeliner.

  • 1/2 tsp. castor oil.
  • 1/2 tsp. Candelilla wax
  • 1/8 tsp. Vitamin E Oil.
  • 1/8 teaspoon Shea butter
  • 1/2 tsp. activated charcoal.
  • Toothpicks.
  • 4 drops of Lavender Essential oil.
  • 5 g, plastic cream jar.
  • Medicine droppers and small glass bowls.

Procedure.

Cover your table and your hands before going to start the procedure because some ingredients can stain. You should carefully make eyeliner to keep your clothes clean. If you still get a stain, remove it with a makeup remover.

Step # 01.

Pour castor oil, activated charcoal, and Vitamin E oil into the small cream jar. Now mix it well with a toothpick until some bits of charcoal are evident. Now, add some drops of lavender essential oil.

Tip: You should use a different glass dropper to get castor and vitamin E. Otherwise, a single dropper can contaminate another product.

Step #02.

Mix the Shea butter with the Candelilla wax in a small glass. Place them in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes on medium-high heat.

Tip: Keep an eye on their melting. Candelilla wax solidifies fast, so by the time you transfer it to the small jar, it may already be solidified. The wax can also be melted by the double-boiler method.

Step #03.

Mix the wax butter in the tiny jar.

Tip: As the wax hardens quickly, you can also pour a charcoal-oil mix into the melted wax-butter in the small glass. If it hardens, then pour it into the jar.

Test eyeliner.

Ran the eyeliner under the faucet and it didn’t smudge. Also, you dipped it in a basin of water for half a minute, and the application is hopefully as strong as you first applied it.

This eyeliner is less black than expected, but you need more layers to get a stronger color. You can compare the lighter and stronger eyeliner in this way. This eyeliner can be removed by using makeup remover or oil with cotton and wiping it off gently. The procedure is messy and takes a few minutes to mix them all, but it is quick. I hope you love it because it is homemade and natural and also beneficial for hair. Vitamin E, castor oil, and lavender essential oil are good to promote hair growth.

Is eyeliner toxic?

So many products are available on the market with different ingredients, so it is difficult to tell eyeliner whether is toxic or not. It will depend on the ingredients used in it. Many women are using products with different toxic chemicals, and they don’t even realize it. Toxic eyeliner contains formaldehyde, parabens, preservatives, butylated hydroxytoluene, synthetics, and butylated hydroxyanisole, or BHT and BHA. You should avoid these products if you care about your eyes.

In short.

The ingredients that we mention in this article with our research are natural, affordable, long-lasting, and safe. You should store it at room temperature. You can try it if you like it and if it satisfies you otherwise you can select a good waterproof formula from the market. To get better results, follow the above guidelines.
